About the teacher Edmund Leung : I started taking traditional piano lessons when I was young, and I never really enjoyed playing those classical pieces. It was indeed quite boring to practise over and over a melody that I was not familiar with, not to mention the grueling months of playing the same few songs repetitively during piano exam preparation. (It probably was also a torture for those who were listening.)Therefore, after passing my Grade 6 piano exam, I gradually played less classical pieces and instead switched to playing pop songs, music that I could relate to. Every time I learned a new song from TV or radio, I would make an effort to play it as soon as I get a chance. After a while, I realized I actually enjoy playing piano more than I thought. It was just the classical pieces that I was not liking. As time passes, I notice that every time when I improvise, my friends are amazed how I could play without any piano score or sheet music. Thus, I have decided to teach others how to play piano by ear, share with them my experience and the tricks I learned over all these years, so that more people can start playing piano without the blind adherence and reliance to sheets, and most importantly, enjoy playing piano Edmund Leung!
